We attach great importance to identifying innovative and sustainable approaches and, where necessary, establishing appropriate links with other departments within Kuraray. Kuraray's commitment to environmental protection and sustainability in MOWITAL® production
Protecting the environment and health is a key objective for Kuraray.
We are dedicated to developing innovative solutions using unique products and clean technologies to improve the natural environment and enhance the quality of life for people worldwide.
The factors influencing climate change in MOWITAL® production are primarily due to the raw materials and energy used in the production of PVB resin. Interestingly, the transportation of raw materials does not have a significant impact on the climate change of PVB resin, as the company is located in an industrial park that enables regional production of the most important raw materials.

GHG Emission Reduction (Scope 1, 2)
The Kuraray Group has set a new roadmap and goal to reduce Scope 1, 2 emissions by 63% by 2035 compared to 2021 levels. We are steadily implementing reduction measures that can be carried out internally, and we are also working with our utility suppliers to explore the transition of the fuels we use to clean new energy sources. Our aim is to achieve this new goal.
GHG Emission Reduction from the Supply Chain (Scope 3)
In 2024, we calculated the Scope 3 emissions for the entire Kuraray Group (details are shown in the table below). Through the calculation, we identified that the primary source of emissions is from "Purchased Goods and Services" (Scope 3 Category 1). Consequently, we have set a new goal to reduce Scope 3 (Category 1) emissions by 37.5% by 2035 compared to 2021 levels. To achieve this goal, we are working on transitioning to raw materials with lower GHG emissions, such as biomass and recycled materials, and expanding the use of carbon reactivated in our activated carbon business. Additionally, we aim to achieve our reduction new goal through dialogue and collaboration with our suppliers

Kuraray participated in the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating, and we can provide the actual score upon request.
EcoVadis is a well-known platform that evaluates companies' sustainability performance by examining the environmental, social, and ethical aspects of their operations.
IEEN Network
Our ongoing efforts focus on the continuous development of new products and technologies with environmental protection at the forefront. We are part of the Rhine-Main Energy Efficiency Network.
AGEEN Certification
Our commitment to sustainability is recognized by AGEEN certification. We firmly believe that with a holistic approach to sustainability, we can pave the way for a better future for generations to come.
